Chat commands
These are the different commands you can type into chat windows to do various things similar to some of the IRC commands. A command always starts with a forward slash and should be typed in the same place you would type a normal chat message. The following list gives the command, a description of it, and then an example of how to use it.

General commands
These commands can be typed into any xfire chat window, whether in-game or not.
- /help
- Lists some commands and a brief description of their usage.
/help
- /me <text>
- Formats the text to be in third-person and places a star in front of it. Functions just like the IRC command with the same name.
/me scores 100 points
- /msg <username> <message>
- Sends a message to the specified friend from any chat window as if you were talking to them in their own window. This is useful to quickly send a message to someone without needing to switch to their actual window. Note: You must specify the person's xfire username, not their nickname.
/msg testfriend1 hey whats up?
- /tell <username> <message>
- Same as the /msg command
/tell testfriend1 Spawn more overlords!
- /send <path-to-file>
- Sends the specified file to the user of whichever chat window you type this into.
/send c:\games\screenshots\screenshot1.jpg

In-game only commands
These commands only work when entered into in-game interface chat windows. They don't do anything if entered into chat windows on the desktop.
- /end
- Ends the current active chat session for whichever window this is used in.
/end
- /reset
- Reloads the Xfire in-game interface. Useful in the event that it gets messed up for some reason and you'd rather not restart the entire game.
/reset
- /reconnect
- Reconnect to Xfire. This is basically the same as pressing the "Reconnect" button on the Xfire client window if/when you get disconnected. Useful to reconnect while in a game without having to alt+tab or wait for Xfire to auto reconnect.
/reconnect

Other commands
- /voicedebug <none|system|dsbuffer|dsbufferpositions|all>
- Creates a log file in the xfire folder named VOICEDEBUG-####-###.log containing debugging info. Turn it off with /voicedebug none. Usually this is only used when requested by xfire tech support for troubleshooting purposes.
/voicedebug all
- /forceupdate
- Forces Xfire to re-download the latest xfire update and apply it. After you run this command, you must log off and on again to start the update.
/forceupdate
