No sound is recorded at all
If the videos you record with Xfire do not have sound at all, there are a few things to check.
First, make sure sound recording is enabled in Xfire's video capture options. See Help:Video capture options for more information about the video capture options.
If sound recording was enabled or enabling it did not resolve the problem, the next part is to check if you have the correct audio device and mixer selected in video capture options. The selected audio device should be the same device where the game is sending its sound to. For example if you have a sound card and USB headset connected and the game is making its sound come through the speakers plugged into your sound card, you should have the sound card selected as the input device.
See Audio device compatibility for more information about the choices available for your specific audio devices.
If you are positive that the correct audio device and mixer are selected but there is still no audio recorded, the next part is to go check your audio recording volume settings. These settings are not controlled by Xfire but Windows, so you need to open the Windows Volume Control to make sure the input sources you use have enough volume set to them and that they are not muted (muted input only applies to some sound devices such as a few Realtek HD Audio codecs).
If, even after checking the volume controls, you are unable to record sound in your Xfire videos, you have a problem that is specific to your system. It can be attempted to be solved if you post to Xfire Technical Support forums.
Xfire records the sound from the microphone instead of the game
If Xfire records from the wrong source then you have the wrong audio device and/or mixer selected. Select the correct audio device and mixer in video capture options. The selected audio device should be the same device where the game is sending its sound to. For example if you have a sound card and USB headset connected and the game is making its sound come through the speakers plugged into your sound card, you should have the sound card selected as the input device.
The availability of audio mixer choices vary from system to system, see Audio device compatibility for more information about the choices available for your specific audio devices.
If you are on Windows Vista and can only select between Microphone and Line In, see Help:Enabling disabled sound devices in Vista for information on how to get more audio devices appear for Xfire.
Game sounds are recorded but they are very quiet
If the recorded sound is very quiet, then you may need to increase the recording volume from Windows Volume Control.
Game sounds are recorded but sound too loud or distorted
If the recorded sound is too loud or becomes distorted, chances are that your recording volume is set too high and you need to lower it from Windows Volume Control.
